“Sun, stand still over Gibeon,
    and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.^(B)”
¹³ So the sun stood still,^(C)
    and the moon stopped,
    till the nation avenged itself on^[a] its enemies,

⁶ He shakes the earth^(A) from its place
    and makes its pillars tremble.^(B)
7 He speaks to the sun and it does not shine;^(C)
    he seals off the light of the stars.^(D)
8 He alone stretches out the heavens^(E)
    and treads on the waves of the sea.^(F)
9 He is the Maker^(G) of the Bear^[a] and Orion,
    the Pleiades and the constellations of the south.^(H)

⁵ The sun rises and the sun sets,
    and hurries back to where it rises.^(A)

¹³ Therefore I will make the heavens tremble;^(A)
    and the earth will shake^(B) from its place
at the wrath^(C) of the Lord Almighty,
    in the day of his burning anger.^(D)
